by Harry von Stark
The photographic documentation of the building of America's Finest, a 263 foot, 80 million dollar fishing trawler built in Anacortes, WA. Designed in Norway, "America's Finest" is one of the most technically advanced ships ever built. It failed the US coast Guard clearance and languished in dry dock for almost 2 yrs. The first attempt to lift the Jones Act grounding failed and on a second attempt received a special dispensation by presidential legislation.
